RH 200 Plank System Performance Data

Fire

Metal ceiling panels are inherently incombustible, however the paint surface and acoustical fleece backing can contribute to fire if not properly formulated. RH 200 Plank System panels have been tested according to ASTM E 84 and are certified Class A by Factory Mutual:

  • Flame spread: less than 25
  • Smoke generation: less than 50

Acoustics

Acoustical correction is provided by the factory application of a black acoustical fleece. Additional correction can be provided by the addition of a fiberglass pad behind the fleece.

  • NRC rating, perforated with fleece: 0.65 (12% open) to 0.70 (40% open)
  • NRC rating, perforated with fleece and fiberglass pad: 0.90 (22% open)

Light Reflectance

Light reflectance of RH 200 Plank Systems is dependent on the selection of color and perforation. The results below were obtained using a photo-spectrometer with a D65 10 degree setting; perforated panels were backed with black acoustical fleece.

Air Flow

RH 200 Plank Systems are not normally considered for use as air supply or return elements. However, pressure drop and flow rate data is available from Armstrong on a variety of perforation types.

Exterior Applications

The RH 200 Plank System is designed essentially as an interior system. However, under certain circumstances, the system can be installed in exterior soffit situations. Modifications to meet exterior requirements will typically include:

  • exterior coating finish specifications
  • restricted panel sizes to meet specified wind loads
  • additional hold down clips and increased frequency of support elements
