CEILING INSTALLATION COURSES

Course Instructor

Our independent trainer Bob Hodges is a registered CITB/City & Guilds Assessor and has over 35 years experience in the suspended ceilings industry; predominantly as a contractor but also with some 16 years in manufacturing.

Course Details

Courses are designed to stimulate and interest the trainees and offer a balance of theoretical and practical content. Two courses are available:
Course A BASIC INSTALLATION TRAINING
This introductory course, over two days, covers the theory and the practical installation of a basic mineral fibre suspended ceiling. It provides an ideal foundation for both office and site based personnel. The programme includes:
Health & Safety
The manufacture of mineral fibre ceiling tiles, including a tour of the factory
The basic principals of installation - ”straight, flat, square and white side down”
Levelling - traditional & modern methods
Setting out - “equal-equal, greater than half”
Getting it square! - a laser or two bits of string
Working to a standard - manufacturer’s instructions & BS EN13964
600 x 600 lay-in ceiling installation - putting the theory into practice (demonstration)
600 x 600 lay-in ceiling installation - trainees opportunity to try it for themselves
The Vector family of products - something a bit different!
Semi concealed grid - a variation on the basic ceiling
Axiom Perimeter Solutions - aluminium sections and plasterboard margins
Armstrong Drywall Grid - different, but it will look familiar

Course B ADVANCED INSTALLATION TRAINING
This course is also over two days and is intended for individuals who have previously attended course A. It builds on the knowledge gained and applies it to the installation of metal ceiling products. The programme includes:
Review of basic installation principles - the principals still apply
Cutting metal tiles - demonstration
Armstrong Orcal 600 x 600 lay-in ceiling installation - practical by trainees
Building a bulkhead in tile and grid - practical by trainees
Armstrong Orcal Clip-In on UK spring tee - practical by trainees
Armstrong Orcal Clip-In on System 3000 spring tee - demonstration
Tartan grid, C Profile & Bandraster - overview
Fire & suspended ceilings - overview
 
Cost: £265 per person plus VAT payable in full on booking
 
Dates 2009  March 24th & 25th  September 29th & 30th
   June 16th & 17th  November 24th & 25th
 
 
THE LOCATION
All courses will be carried out at our Training School facilities Kingsway South, Team Valley Trading Estate, Gateshead NE11 0SP and commence promptly at 08:00. Courses finish at approximately 16.00 on the second day.
Upon registration, Armstrong will raise an invoice for payment. Armstrong must receive payment in full in order to confirm all bookings.
A full refund, less a 10% administration fee, will be given for cancellations received in writing 21 days or more prior to the installation course. Refunds will not be made after this date. In the unlikely event of an installation course being cancelled, the full registration fee will be refunded but Armstrong World Industries Limited assumes no further liability.
All necessary tools and equipment will be supplied.
A buffet lunch is provided on both days. Any special dietary requirements must be notified when the booking is confirmed.
Please note costs for transport and accommodation are not included in the Installation School price. Hotel information close to the facility and a detailed map will be sent when course booking is confirmed.
 
HEALTH & SAFETY
Armstrong World Industries uphold a strong safety policy and to adhere to this, all installation school attendees MUST wear approved safety shoes/boots (NOT PROVIDED). Trainees without suitable footwear will not be allowed to participate in any of the training. Both courses involve an amount of practical work and appropriate clothing should be worn. All attendees will be provided with hearing protection, eye protection and safety gloves as appropriate.
