Armstrong's mineral fiber ceiling plant in China, Armstrong Building Products Shanghai (ABPS), celebrated 10 years of operations
October 30. Hundreds attended the gala event that included ceremonial and entertaining lion dancing, a number of congratulatory
speeches and an employee recognition dinner.
The Shanghai plant is one of Armstrong's strongest manufacturing facilities. Its performance on productivity, quality, service
and safety are at or near the top among Armstrong plants worldwide.
"The anniversary gave us a chance to celebrate a decade of accomplishments here at ABPS," said Executive Vice President Steve
Senkowski. "This is a dedicated team, succeeding in so many ways."
The anniversary event attracted distinguished visitors including key members of Armstrong's executive team, former ABPS plant
managers and engineers, important local government officials, and Armstrong's biggest customers in China.
"It was excellent to welcome back to Shanghai our former plant managers - Dave Randich, Olivia Stewart and Jeff Swartz - and
others who contributed so much in the plant's early history - Henk Duijm, Heinrich Kramer, and Wayne Wang," said Ken Chong,
vice president North Asia.
"ABPS has been and will continue to be critical to our success in China and throughout Asia," said Greg Gottlieb, senior vice
president and managing director Asia/Pacific. "We have a number of investments planned for ABPS in capacity and in new product
capabilities. The ABPS employees have proven that we can continue to count on them.
"This event was really to recognize the years of hard work and accomplishment of every member of the ABPS team."
