-Grand Opening Event June 6-
Wujiang, China - June 6, 2013 - Armstrong World Industries, a global leader in the design and manufacture of floors and ceilings, along with the Foho government, held a ceremony June 6 in Foho, Wujiang, Jiangsu Province, China, to celebrate the openings of its three new manufacturing facilities. The plants are part of the $150 million (RMB 940 million) investment Armstrong has made in China in the last two years to serve the growing Chinese market.
Foho Party Secretary, Mr. Wu Xin Ming said, "This is an exciting day for Foho, Wujiang, and a testament to our hard-working people and powerful example of how cooperation between countries and cultures can bring about spectacular results. We are pleased Armstrong chose Foho, Wujiang for these three plants, and we look forward to a long and prosperous partnership."
Armstrong has the advanced technology and knowhow to produce high-quality, high-design products to serve the growing Chinese building construction market. In addition to its recent manufacturing investments, the company has expanded its local sales and marketing and research and development operations, as well as its brand protection initiatives. Armstrong is actively participating in efforts to establish enhanced building codes and standards, and the company is a member of the China Green Building Council. Armstrong's Chinese headquarters are located in Shanghai, and it has conducted business in China since 1982. In addition to the new plants, Armstrong has two other manufacturing facilities in China, a wood flooring plant in Kunshan, Jiangsu and a ceilings plant in Qinqpu, a district of Shanghai.
Armstrong CEO Matt Espe said, "We're very grateful for the extraordinary support we've received here in Wujiang from the government, from our customers and suppliers and, in particular, from our employees. These plants were built safely, on schedule and on budget. Two of the plants are already shipping products to customers, and the third will start shipping in just a few weeks.
