Falling Ball Impact Test - Modified ASTM D-1037 Procedure In certain applications, such as gymnasiums, locker rooms, classrooms, corridors, and institutional settings, acoustical ceiling
assemblies may be subjected to impact from objects. Impact resistance assemblies with acoustical lay-in panels typically require
retention clips to keep panels in place upon direct impact.

Washability Test (ASTM D 4828) For applications where cleanliness is important, panels may require cleaning beyond normal maintenance procedures. Acoustical
panels with special surfaces such as DUNE, ULTIMA, OPTIMA, and VPO coatings offer superior wash resistance without compromising
panel finish integrity. The accepted test procedure is the Gardner Washability Test ASTM D 4828.
Recommended products: Optima Open Plan Ultima

 |
Scrubbability Test (ASTM D 2486) Ceilings installed in laboratories, clean rooms and food preparation areas are required to meet scrubbability standards -
and, sometimes, other specific criteria. The Scrubbability test evaluates a ceiling’s ability to withstand scrubbing.
Recommended products: Optima Open Plan Ultima Clean Room VL Clean Room Mylar Textura/Ardria

 |
Simulated Supply Air Diffuser Soiling Test Dirt accumulation not only detracts from a ceiling’s appearance, but can cost money by requiring painting or replacement of
the ceiling. In addition to reducing acoustical efficiency, soiling can cause a substantial reduction in light reflectance.
Most Armstrong Hi-LR ceilings provide excellent soil resistance for lasting value and performance.
Recommended products: Optima Open Plan Ultima Fine Fissured Ceremaguard

 |
Hess Rake Test In any areas where lay-in ceiling panels frequently need to be removed for plenum access, surface scratch resistance is highly
desirable. The Hess Rake Test evaluated surface scratch resistance.
Recommended products: Optima Open Plan Ultima Clean Room VL Textura/Ardria Dune

Armstrong High Durability/Low Maintenance Ceilings:- Are tested to verify superior performance - Maintain high performance due to Soil, Impact or Scratch Resistance - Increases Ceiling Life Cycle - Lower maintenance costs. - Help meet sustainable design criteria
Surface durability and soil resistance are key criteria wherever ceilings need to withstand abuse or be kept clean. Designers can select ceilings with specific high surface durability or soil resistance attributes.
