Relatively new and innovative, Chilled Beam systems work on the principle of convection. As warm air rises into the ceiling void through the Armstrong metal ceiling panels, it is cooled by the chilled beams, mixed with fresh air and then drops back into the office space below. Conversely in winter, fresh air is heated in the ceiling void before it is diffused downwards. Consequently, the MetalWorks panels had to be manufactured to precise specification to satisfy the exacting airflow requirements of the chilled beam system.
