Kirsten Riess
Designer

A self-proclaimed military brat, Kirsten is the fashion plate of the Armstrong Commercial flooring team and a walking billboard for colorful creativity. Kirsten has learned to create her own unique style that works across any culture.

Inspiration for these new styles surrounds Kirsten. Always with a camera, she snaps pictures of anything from the latest colorful lipstick shades to a new car speeding by to interesting sidewalk shadows. These and other images inspired her to develop the color palette for ROYAL™, a new homogeneous vinyl sheet with a definite trend-setting visual.

She also recently developed our newly enhanced Connection CORLON® inlaid vinyl product line.
Having spent several years in Los Angeles, Kirsten began her career in women's fashion. As the computer quickly became integral to creative design, she began to master Computer Aided Design (CAD). She is now the Armstrong Commercial Flooring design team's designated computer whiz and official trend spotter.

"I like new and exciting experiences," says Kirsten. "I'm very open-minded and that puts me in different circles to spot trends."

Kirsten has the innate sense to look beyond design in to how people enjoy themselves - where they feel comfortable. She feels that individual lifestyles have the greatest impact on design and with everyone so short on time, the need for low maintenance products is key.

"Low maintenance is a great message whether it's a commercial environment or in the home," she says. "All of us work as a team to combine great design with function. After all, I don't want to clean either."
