Armstrong Flooring Recognized by Floor Covering Weekly with GreenStep Awards
LANCASTER, PA– Floor Covering Weekly (FCW) hosted its fourth annual GreenStep Awards to recognize environmental achievement and stewardship within the flooring industry,
and Armstrong won two GreenStep Environmental Awards — one for product and one for promotion. Only two other manufacturers
have ever won more than one GreenStep Award in any given year.
We received the GreenStep Product Award for Striations BioBased Tile, which uses domestically grown, rapidly renewable plant matter and limestone as alternatives to PVC plasticizers.
Armstrong also won the GreenStep Promotion Award for the VISION House® in INNOVENTIONS at Epcot® that opened on Earth Day
2012. The ground-breaking green show home exhibit, presented by Green Builder Media® in collaboration with Walt Disney Imagineering,
features Armstrong floors and gives visitors a fun, first-hand educational experience into green design and sustainable living.
“As a company, we certainly strive to make greater strides in everything we do,” said Mara Villanueva-Heras, vice president,
Marketing, AFP Residential. “Whether it’s the infusion of materials and processes in our biobased tile or the opportunity
to educate people, even kids on vacation with Vision House, sustainability is an important part of what we do at Armstrong.”
Rik Born, vice president, Commercial Sales, and Mara Villanueva-Heras, vice president, Marketing, AFP Residential, were on
hand to accept the awards at a ceremony in Dalton, Georgia.
The GreenStep Program
The goal of the GreenStep program is to recognize sustainable environmental initiatives throughout the industry; to promote
and support those efforts by providing a communications platform to convey the extent and scope of these efforts, and to honor
