Laura Gemperline Principal Designer
Growing up near New York City, Laura was born into a life of creativity and design. Her family's legacy includes a part of
American popular culture - her father contributed to the design of the iconic Mrs. Butterworth's pancake syrup bottle. Laura
also has a passion for design and applies that passion to the work she does.
Drawing upon her previous experience in a commercial design firm, Laura is able to establish an immediate rapport with her
customers. She says she learned early on to listen to customer needs with an ear for both creative and practical solutions.
Laura explains how flooring can add value to a commercial building's design and be functional, too.
"Creating a beautiful commercial interior is always a wonderful challenge. Creating a beautiful commercial environment that
is also functional is artistry," she says. "My goal is to create products that meet our customer's design, color and aesthetic
needs regardless of price point. That will always be the driver for how I develop products - with an eye for how people use
them."
Laura's upbringing among New York City's artistic community and natural talent were fine tuned with a Fine Arts Degree. She
leads the design team on some of our most popular vinyl composition tile product lines - Standard EXCELON® Imperial® Texture, and MultiColor™. She also played an integral role in the color development of EXCELON® Stonetex® and finalized the image and color line for ARTEFFECTS™.
Most recently, Laura worked with the team to expand the NATURAL CREATIONS™ luxury vinyl tile line. Laura also recognized the latest moves towards more residentially-inspired designs and visuals for
commercial interiors and enhanced our light commercial vinyl product, COMMISSION® Plus with comfortable designs in warmer tones and textures.
When not in the Armstrong Commercial Flooring design studio, Laura says her most challenging work could be the craft projects
she enjoys with her children.
