PRESS ROOMwww.armstrong.com Completes Commercial ConstructionLANCASTER, PA, December 2, 2005 – With a carefully planned commercial redesign, Armstrong is taking its award-winning Web site to a new level, with the relaunch of www.armstrong.com/commflooringna. According to Commercial & International eMarketing Manager Peter Walter, the site’s goal is to inspire, inform and assist. “Visiting the site, architects, designers, specifiers, contractors, distributors and facilities managers will more quickly be able to find what they want, and also be inspired by solutions they might not have thought of yet.” To build closer relationships with each type of customer, the site is built around the commercial project life cycle. The re-launch of the commercial portion of the award-winning Armstrong.com, holds as its motto: “between us, ideas become reality.” “The intent behind remodeling our commercial site was to create a platform that would inspire and inform customers about the Armstrong product portfolio and suggest how and where to use our products in their projects,” says Walter. Reacting to the “floor-to-ceiling” needs of the commercial construction community, Armstrong’s eMarketing team has responded to users’ suggestions provided in an on-line survey and several focus groups conducted among customers. As a result, visitors will find improved site access, clearer, more intuitive navigation, decreased loading time, and new features to help them find both what they need, and what they want faster. For example: Architects, designers and facility managers wanted improved photo features, an easier way to locate contractors and distributors, and more information on sustainable design. Armstrong responded with clearer information pathways, improved graphics and the improved “contact” referral interface. To meet the flooring demands of growing eco-consciousness, Armstrong increases awareness of its many sustainable product offerings and policies. The redesign of the “Environmental Programs” section details LEEDS specifications for environmental needs, and describes its sustainable materials, policies and projects. Contractors wanted easier access to installation instructions, product specs and an easy way to order literature and samples online. Armstrong.com offers “Design and Spec Resources” with easily accessed technical information including downloadable product data sheets and CSI specs. The “Floor Expert,” and “TechLine” features offer downloadable technical guides, an online database of technical flooring solutions, and the option to contact an Armstrong Technical Service Consultant either online or via telephone. Flooring samples and catalogs are just a few clicks away in the “Specs and Technical” section – sample and catalog requests are easily added to a shopping basket. Get the right floor for the right space with the “Selection Tools” bar, while an expanded interactive illustrated case study library allows users to share innovative design solutions with each other. Not limited to one set of users or industry audience, Armstrong.com’s improved information flow makes specs, experts and solutions available to anyone. Users can handily download product data sheets or CSI specs, request samples and literature and access on-line technical support. Other functions help visitors locate contractors and distributors and even information on AIA-certified coursework, all without wasting a minute. “We want the Commercial site to give customers the confidence and inspiration to spec the right product for their project,” adds Sally Kresge, project manager, Commercial & International eMarketing. “The feedback we’ve received from focus groups confirms the site is doing just that.” About Armstrong Armstrong Holdings, Inc. is the parent company of Armstrong World Industries, Inc., a global leader in the design and manufacture of floors, ceilings and cabinets.
