BAU 2013 München
Live and in colour: BAU!
It was a sensational start to the year: over 235,000 visitors came to see the BAU 2013 trade fair in Munich. Our own stand saw a constant buzz of activity: we welcomed over 700 curious visitors, including many international guests, to our spectacular setting of DLW Linoleum. Our “Orchestra of Colours and Shapes”, designed by the Ippolito Fleitz Group from Stuttgart, was a real eye-catcher, even from afar.
Experienced “live and in colour”, our ecologically sustainable DLW floorings were modern and trendsetting, but also stylish and elegant: our new Lino Art Linea linoleum collection gently beguiled with its subtle longitudinal structure and natural colours, recalling the look of wood and concrete. In contrast, our Colorette range featured brilliant hues in a rainbow palette, absolutely bursting with life. Customers, architects and planners were all visibly impressed by the wide-ranging possibilities of Armstrong products for floor and wall applications.
We were particularly delighted by our nomination for “Building Trends 2013 by AIT+xia”. For the first time, these two renowned trade journals invited some 100 architects and interior designers to name the most significant innovations and trends for the coming year. Of all the products from 2,060 exhibitors representing 41 countries, the best 17 were nominated, with 6 winners declared.
We want to thank all the visitors of BAU for six wonderfully stimulating days at this year’s trade fair!
Armstrong at Euroshop
Exquisite new DLW Scala
In Düsseldorf at EuroShop, the world’s most important retail trade fair (26 Feb – 2 Mar), Armstrong presented its latest Scala designer tile collections to an international audience. These included the new, entirely reworked Scala 100 and Scala 55 collections, as well as the new Scala Click Comfort installation alternative. The stage for the market launch was fashioned in a combination of solid red, orange and violet DesignCut tiles.
In keeping with its recently initiated "green dialogue" campaign, Armstrong re-used a scaled-down version of its booth installation at the BAU trade fair held in January. The strikingly attractive booth featuring enormous fan-shaped structures was designed by architecture students from the University of Applied Sciences in Giessen, Germany.

The Armstrong trade fair booth at BAU 2011
In January 2011, the BAU trade fair for architecture, materials and systems once again attracted many visitors to its host city, Munich. This year, Armstrong presented itself in front of and beneath a giant white fan-shaped structure. The spectacular trade fair booth was the culmination of a project jointly undertaken with architecture students from the University of Applied Sciences in Giessen, Germany, led by Professor Jürgen J. Hauck. From the students’ creative designs, Armstrong selected two winning proposals, as well as one for third place, and honoured their achievements at a public awards presentation at the BAU trade fair. The two first prizes went to Tatjana Kapezov, whose proposal was implemented, and to Roman Grube. Poitr Hajnas received the third-place award.
