Fiberline Middelfart
Like a hill in the landscape

The new administration and production building of Fiberline, a manufacturer of fibreglass, is located in Middelfart, in the south of Denmark. Out in the open countryside, KHR Arkitekter from Copenhagen built a 25,000-square-metre administration building with a production hall. Like an elongated hill, the building arches out of the flat landscape, the highest point being determined by a high-rack storage area inside.

Three large, glazed incisions structure the long building and, in the interior, produce an interesting spatial geometry with (depending on the weather) almost dramatic plays of shadow and light. The production on the ground floor and the office area on the galleries are only separated by a glass plate which renders the spatial impression even more generous.

The administration area is on the east side of the building, the glass incisions leaning north are used as conference and meeting rooms. The bright structure is emphasised by the grey and white surfaces. DLW Linoleum Uni Walton in a light grey (twilight) refers perfect to the main idea of a simple and clear building.
