Jeffrey D. Nickel
Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Jeffrey D. Nickel is senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Armstrong World Industries, Inc. He is a member of Armstrong’s Office of the Chairman, which works to manage change across lines of business and functional areas.

Mr. Nickel joined Armstrong in 2001 as group counsel for Armstrong’s global flooring business. He was named deputy general counsel for business and commercial law in 2003. He was elected to his current position in 2008.

As general counsel, Mr. Nickel helps shape Armstrong’s strategic direction in keeping with the Company’s long-standing history of ethical behavior in all business conduct, particularly legal compliance, customer relations, supplier relations and other areas.

Mr. Nickel came to Armstrong from the law department of Dow Corning Corporation, where he was employed for nine years and served in a variety of progressively responsible legal positions in Michigan and Belgium. He began his legal career with the Michigan law firm of Varnum Riddering Schmidt & Howlett LLP.

A native of Alpena, Michigan, Mr. Nickel received a bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard College and a J.D. degree from the University of Michigan Law School. Mr. Nickel is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and Michigan.

Mr. Nickel and his family reside in Lancaster.
