Purchasing at Armstrong
Armstrong purchases a variety of products and services through several different departments. In each, the overall goal is
the same - to obtain the highest quality products and services, at the best cost to the company, in a timely manner and with
the best service.
Armstrong's purchasing professionals play a key role by meeting both the company's purchasing goal and at the same time supporting
our Supplier Diversity Program. Purchasers work together with the Supplier Diversity team to identify additional suppliers.
In addition, other employees who make purchasing decisions are required to seek and utilize diverse suppliers.
Corporate Procurement is responsible for the majority of our manufacturing and non-manufacturing purchases at Armstrong.
Here are a few basics for starting process with out Supplier Diversity Team and gaining access to your purchasing contacts:
- Complete the On-line Potential Supplier Questionnaire .
It will get you into our internal on-line Supplier Information System. The standard Supplier Profile Questionnaire was developed
to help us locate the appropriate contact for you and to provide our Supply Managers with basic information about your company.
- Your material will be viewed, logged in and forwarded to the appropriate purchaser(s) at Armstrong.
- If we need your product or service, an Armstrong purchaser will contact you with information regarding the next steps and other pertinent details.
- If there is no current need, your information will remain in our database for future requests from our purchasers.
What We Look for in Suppliers
Companies who supply quality goods and services used by Armstrong are eligible to become suppliers to Armstrong. Successful
candidates to become suppliers to Armstrong will demonstrate the following qualities:
- Certified as a Woman Business Enterprise and/or a Minority Business Enterprise.
Accepted third party certification bodies include:
- National and Regional Minority Supplier Development Councils
- Business Enterprise National Council
- Financial viability
- High ethics
- Competitive in price to industry represented
- Quality procedures and processes, ISO or other appropriate to the industry
- Cost reduction program
- Cycle time reduction program
- Programs of continuous improvement
- Offers a technological or service advantage over other competitors
- Innovative in delivery of goods or services utilizing e-commerce, EDI, etc.
Supplier Diversity Policy Statement
Armstrong's Supplier Diversity Program is designed to provide competitive opportunities for Minority and Women owned businesses
to supply quality products and services to Armstrong. This program supports our core value of diversity.
Armstrong recognizes minority- and women-owned enterprises as those that are at least 51 percent owned and operated by minorities
or women.

The National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) provides increased procurement and business opportunities for minority businesses of all sizes.
