John N. Rigas is senior vice president and general counsel of Armstrong World Industries, Inc.
Mr. Rigas is a member of the Office of the Chairman, which works to facilitate and manage change across lines of business
and functional areas.
As general counsel, Mr. Rigas helps to shape Armstrong’s strategic direction in keeping with the company’s long-standing history
of ethical behavior in all business conduct, particularly legal compliance, customer relations, supplier relations and other
areas.
Mr. Rigas has managed asbestos and other litigation matters since joining Armstrong in 1999. His legal talent in handling
the asbestos issue, one of the most critical legal matters for the company at this time, was recognized in the form of his
promotion in November 2000 to his current position.
Prior to joining Armstrong, Mr. Rigas was with Dow Corning Corp. for 17 years. His last position at Dow Corning was senior
managing counsel. Mr. Rigas is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law. He holds a Master’s degree in history
and political science from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University.
Mr. Rigas and his wife are the parents of two children.
