Hardwood has always been a popular flooring choice for many homeowners – and home buyers. We love the look of hardwood. But as durable as hardwoods are, many floors will begin to show the effects of an “active” household over time. You know – the dents, dings and scratches that are the result of everyday living. Some homeowners might not install hardwood for just that reason – or they might install it in a room that doesn’t get a lot of traffic.

VISION House®, which will be located in INNOVENTIONS at Epcot, is the first “green” house built at a Disney theme park. The new exhibit is part of Green Builder® Media’s VISION House series, a group of demonstration homes built around the country to showcase green building and sustainable living ideas.
It’s been a few years now that I’ve been thinking about replacing the flooring in our home. Yes, I’m quite a procrastinator when it comes to spending money on home improvement projects. To get myself motivated, I came up with 7 reasons for why I need new flooring:
When choosing a new floor for my kitchen, my dog, Shasta, had a big say in the floor I picked. Now, I don’t want you to think I held up flooring samples and chose the one that got the loudest bark. It was more subtle than that. I looked for floors that are particularly pet-friendly – that is, they’re durable and scratch-resistant.
