Personalization has become an important interior design trend in recent years. Now Armstrong introduces a whole new dimension of personalization – for your floor! With new shapes and sizes in our Alterna collection.

Alterna luxury vinyl tile is a beautiful alternative to natural stone and ceramic tile, and just like those products, Alterna is available in various sizes. In addition to 16” x 16” and 12” x 12” sizes, you can now get 12” x 24”, 8” x 16” and 8” x 8” in thirty Alterna designs.

Ready to design your own floor? Try these patterning ideas.

1) Install square tiles in a diamond pattern.

2) Install rectangular tiles in a herringbone design.

3) Mix sizes and shapes to create a modular layout.

You can also mix Alterna shapes and sizes to create staggered brick, diamond, basketweave, herringbone, random coursed, and windmill patterns. The possibilities are endless!

DESIGN TIP: Borders are a great way to accent the perimeter of your room – or just a section of it – like around an island in your kitchen. Check out various ways to create a border.

Along with new sizes, we’ve also introduced two new designs to the Alterna collection.

New Alterna Designs

Athenian Travertine is a scabos travertine accented with onyx – a luminescent stone. Think of this travertine as a beautiful dress, and the onyx is the jewelry that adds the “bling” to the outfit. It’s offered in two colors – Honey Onyx and Provincial Bisque. This design is part of our Alterna Reserve collection, so it offers the most texture variation of any luxury vinyl tile on the market!

Allegheny Slate is also an exciting addition to Alterna Reserve. The bold movement of the design captures the essence of an untamed wilderness. If you’re looking for drama, check out the Copper Mountain color. Allegheny Slate is also offered in two additional colors – Italian Earth and Bronze Age. These colors are more muted, but still offer the rustic feel that is so popular.

With Alterna shapes and sizes, you can now bring the personalization to your floor that you already have with your walls and ceiling. Have fun!
