Looks great - but think about where you put it

My new house came with hardwood flooring standard in the kitchen and dining area. The high gloss oak gunstock looks great. However, every spoon, fork, and cup dropped leaves it's mark behind. The painter had quite a surprise when he moved the refrigerator without using luan-- left wheel indentations, so he had to pay to replace the damaged flooring. The installer said they get 80 calls a year due to painters doing damage. Spills from the inevitable cooking splatters come up easily enough with Armstrong floor cleaner. It is by no means maintenance free, however. A bit of followup to the floor mops is necessary by hand, especially along the counters. If the builder had given me an allowance to eliminate the hardwood kitchen floor, I would have gone with hardwood in the hallways and family room, then with ceramic in the kitchen.

This rich walnut colored hardwood is so beautiful in each room. When guests enter our home for the first time we often hear "Wow! What a gorgeous floor, what is it?" Even after many visits, they still comment on the floor. We are now having it installed in our master bedroom.

I have been happy with these floors in general. They were installed just over two years ago. Unlike the other reviewer I have not had big problems with scratches and we have a dog and grandchildren. When people see it for the first time they are always "wowed" by the floor. The downsides are: 1 - beveled edge floors hold dirt in the grooves. 2 - when the day comes and I do want to refinish the floors, the bevels will fill with the refinishing materials and 3 - they don't hold a shine well. I keep trying to find a better floor cleaner to help them look shinier but no luck yet. The biggest complaint I have about the product is that many of the knots in the wood have lost small pieces of the eye and are filling with dirt. They really draw my eye and make the floor more rustic than I wanted.

I did get some good advice when I purchased this product. I wanted a flat shiny floor and the sales person told me that with dogs and kids that may not be the best way to go. They were right. Even with my concerns listed above, the floor is perfect for our lifestyle.

I hired an 25-year pro to lay the floor and between the flooring material and him I got a fabulous result, just love it. It's only been in a week so it's tough to rate durability yet. I'm getting used to walking on it, it's slippery but I'm hoping after a good cleaning some of that will be reduced. Don't try to lay it yourself, it's tricky around the edges. We floated, using glue in the tongue/groove with underlayment. 700 ft. took the better part of 3 days laying it and placing baseboards, and he had 2 helpers on day one (I had the floor clear and ready when he got there).

Beautiful elegant floor

We put down the Natural Hickory 100% hardwood in our kitchen (total remodel). It was so stunning, we decided to put tear up our old hardwood and put it down in the living, dining room and hallways (and plan to continue it throughout the rest of the bedrooms and den soon). We just finished putting it down (DIY-easy to install) and it really opens up our space and adds a lot of movement, as it has sandy, blonde, and darker beams. We wanted something with character (instead of floor that looks all the same) and this flooring has enough character without going overboard, especially with those few boards that have some authentic knots in their. Goes well with all types of furniture we have. It's very well priced for such a beautiful, quality product. highly recommend!

Great Quality and Consistent

Very easy to install! Found an excellant mixture of board sizes and color was all consistent. I used the Natural Maple to do a border and weaved the corners and cross laid the center. (See attached pictures.)

We just installed a new Bruce hickory hard floor in our third home. this is the first time we went with wood... and we are very satisfied and its looks terrific..... the installing contractor had no problems and was excited with the quality and ease of install .... Great job Armstrong!

This floor looks beautiful. As first time installers we we very happy at how easy this was to install and how great it looks. It cleans up well and having a 19 month old running around with her toys and the dog following it is a challenge to keep up. But the floor handles it well and still looks great after two months of wear.

We love our new flooring. It exceeded our expectations! I have found it is easy to clean and keep looking good. We really like the hand-scraping and distressed look. I was initially worried when the first box was opened and I saw the color variations-but it looks amazing. The color, Fall Canyon, is the perfect color- not too light, not too dark.

Beautiful with modern decor and natural travertine

Although maple, it works wonderfully with the cool gray tones on the walls. I don't like dark stains that show foot prints and selected this color for that reason. It worked out beautifully. Next to the natural travertine I have in kitchen and baths, the transition is great. It's our first engineered floor, we have 3/4" now, and I know I'm going to enjoy it for years to come. It's the first thing people comment on when they arrive.

We moved into our home that had some of this flooring down on our 1st floor. We recently finished other rooms with this as well, and have self-installed our hard wood floor. This was our first time with this project that my husband & I did ourselves, and went together easy, looks beautiful, and is easy to care for. An experience that has certainly made us brave to take on other DIY projects, for sure!

We do not yet have children, though we do have a lot of family [incl. their dogs] and friends, and host parties & holidays, so our flooring gets high-traffic, and since it is also the flooring of my kitchen, it endures plenty of food, drink & water spills extremely well.

Love my floor

Searched very thoroughly for a hand-scuplted floor, that was both classic, casual, formal with a gloss, as I initially wanted the floor to do double duty in both my casual family room and formal dining room.
This floor was the only one I found that fit the bill after searching (I believe) just about every hardwood distributor. The floor is beautiful with some great variations and markings. Installation was easy, with all boards used which left quite a bit left over. (Didn't need the 5% overage!).

The quality is great, and although I wish the color was a little lighter, it does run true to the sample. The biggest negative would be that it does show dirt easily, but it also cleans very easily. I am very careful, so I cannot comment on the scratch resistance, but so far, I do not have any scratches or dents. Great hardwood, beautiful casual elegance.

The rich yet rustic look of the Bruce distressed 7" Rockwell plank in the Honey Oak is awesome. It was glued down to the concrete floor of our Florida home. I preferred this methode over the idea of having it floating. It had much more grain and variation than I had expected. This was to our delight since we found the many different variations in grain add to the overall beauty though the basic color tone is consistent.

Excellent choice of Floors

I was looking for 3/8 Engineered flooring which had 5 inch wide boards. There are a lot of them out there but this one is built well. I choose to glue down this floor to my subfloor. This hickory has amazing character varies from board to board. Not as grainy as Oak but not as subtle as Maple. I think Hickory is a great choice. Interestingly enough - Armstrong sells this exact wood under a different name. This is actually a Bruce branded product. model EEL5203. So as long as you can match that model number you are getting the same item. When you compare similar wood in this price range you cant beat the quality. Recommended.

I really like this flooring. The only thing I would say badly about it is that it does chip if you drop something like a glass. I thought it would have more durability. And you can't get stain to cover the chip. Other than that, it's beautiful. We get lots of compliments on it.

I was looking for a hardwood floor company and I heard from a neighbor that they used Armstrong, I asked them how it looked, how it was, how easy it was with dogs, etc. and they said well look at our floor do u see any gashes or any scratches on our floor? now their floor was not scratched at all so I went to Armstrong and they helped me with a bunch of things like how much it will cost etc. I decided to get maple in cocoa brown and I loved it ever since they put the first plank down. there are barely any scratches and no gashes! my dog is the most hyper thing in the world and I've not seen that many scratches, and have I mentioned no gashes. the floor hasn't chipped yet and I've had this product for quite a while now. Pretty much, the floor is amazing and I love it! if I were you I would get this flooring and with out a doubt wouldn't wait. go to Armstrong where your dream floor awaits.
