Product Classification
Board-to-Board Color Variation
Board-to-Board Color Variation

Wood is a natural material that features changes in color and tone. The board-to-board color variation is more pronounced in some species, less in others. If you like the look of contrasting light and dark tones, select a species that offers most color variation. If you prefer consistent color from board to board, choose the least color variation.

Hardness Scale
Hardness Scale

The density/hardness of the wood species and its ability to withstand foot traffic, children and pets will impact its wear performance, and will vary from species to species. Strong, resilient Oak is used as the industry benchmark. The hardness scale shown to the left shows the relative hardness of this wood species.

Trim and Moldings for Hardwood - Walnut - Natural
Overlap Reducer

Overlap Stairnose

Quarter Round
Quarter Round

A molding used to cover expansion space next to baseboards, case goods, and stairs steps. Pre-drill and nail to the vertical surface, not to the floor.

Reducer Strip
Reducer Strip

A teardrop shaped molding used around fireplaces, doorways, as a room divider, or as a transition between wood flooring and adjacent floor coverings that are less thick. Fasten down with adhesive, small nails or double-faced tape.

Stair Nose
Stair Nose

A molding undercut for use as a stair landings trim, elevated floor perimeters, and stair steps. Fasten down firmly with adhesive and nails or screws. Pre-drill nail holes to prevent splitting.

A molding used as a transition piece from one flooring to another of equal height or to gain expansion spaces. Fasten at the heel in the center of the molding. Additional support may need to be added to the heel of the molding dependent upon the thickness of the goods covered.

A molding undercut used against sliding door tracks, fireplaces, carpet, ceramic tile, or existing thresholds to allow for expansion space and to provide a smooth transition in height difference. Fasten to subfloor with adhesive and/or nails through the heel. Pre-drill nail holes to prevent splitting.

Customer Reviews

Rated 2.3 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Beautiful floor, resists wear and tear more than comparable wood floor. We installed 2000sf of this flooring in our home. The installation is relatively easy. However, the locking joints can be a trick to get snapped together (some pieces can be bowed or remnants left from the milling process). Once you get the hang of putting it down it's not so bad. We have an active two year old and two dogs. The floor shows no sign of wear from them at all. Only vulnerability is high heel shoes, like any other floor. It;'s extremely easy to clean with a microfiber mop (we use the Zep hardwood and laminate cleaner from home depot). Installed many kinds of hardwood and this is the best yet. April 9, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Beware! Wish we did more research as we assumed that any hardwood floor by Armstrong would be excellent quality. Unfortunately, this one scratches extremely easily even though we placed proper protection under all the furniture and are careful moving and placing things on the floor. Within the first week it was showing wear and we seriously regret this choice of wood. Also, the flooring sample we were shown had very little variation in colour and shade however, this wood shows EXTREME variations so it is certainly not a good choice if you want a uniform look. Rated 2 out of 5 by Beautiful, but not recommended for families with dogs We have had this hardwood in our home for just over a year, and while we love the look, we are very disappointed with the durability. We have 2 dogs (50lbs each), and they have done quite a number on the surface of the wood. We were told that this product would be able to withstand the punishment of dog nails, but it just isn't the case. Part of the problem may be due to the extremely slick surface of the planks. Unlike regular hardwood, there are no contours to the wood. The resin they put on the top actually creates a perfectly flat surface... So when a dog starts running, it just runs in place. If you don't have pets, then this is a great way to get the look of Walnut with some added durability. If you do have dogs, I would look into something different...... I really wish we would have.
