THE SINGER JEWEL CREATES A WHIMSICAL & PRACTICAL NURSERY WITH ARMSTRONG LAMINATE FLOORS

Singer/Songwriter Jewel and her rodeo champ husband Ty Murray created a tender and fanciful look for her baby’s nursery in their recently renovated ranch in Stephenville, Texas, and personally selected beautiful, easy-care laminate flooring from Armstrong.

The couple worked with Kim Lewis, an imaginative designer known for her work on the television show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" to create a home with a warm décor, yet eclectic style for themselves and infant son Kase. Lewis design for the home was inspired by the sweeping 2,400 acre ranch and farm animals, including rough-hewn Tibetan carved wooden stands and a kitchen island designed to look like a giant packing crate.

“For Ty and Jewel’s house, I wanted to do something more unique and personal. Jewel wanted everything to look scuffed and well-worn, so we went with a ‘Rustic Bohemian’ style,” said Lewis.

Since the nursery is where Kase sleeps, Jewel wanted it be a comforting and calm environment, but also a space where he can grow and explore. In a design that suggests a vintage farm animal theme, a reclaimed barn wood headboard wall is the focal point and drives the character in the nursery. Fuzzy animals surround the baby with cozy farm life. Lewis painted the closet doors with chalkboard paint, so Jewel can write lullabies to the baby.

“In thinking through their flooring options, Jewel and Ty both wanted something that was warm, inviting and durable. With their busy schedules and the baby, they needed a floor that fit their design theme and also would be low maintenance,” said Lewis.

Coastal Living™ laminate from Armstrong, in Sand Dollar Oak, fit the bill perfectly, and gives the space an ocean-kissed, weathered look in an easy to clean, easy-to-install laminate floor. The planks install faster and easier than other laminates with a simple two-step process - Simply Lock&Fold™. The floor requires no acclimation and looks like solid wood but offers enhanced moisture protection all around. The surface is easy to clean and protects the floor from stains, fading or wear through.

Hand scraped. Bleached and whitewashed. The laminate floors appear to have withstood years of exposure to unrelenting winds and harsh ocean elements. These laminates offer incredible looks with performance that will stand up to everyday family life.

“This is one of the prettiest laminates I've ever seen,” said Lewis. “This floor is designed for comfortable living. It’s family friendly and animal friendly, since it’s wear-water-and-stain resistant. It was a perfect choice for a ranch home with both kids and pets.”
