Hi, I am Tony.
I am here to talk to you about installing Alterna by Armstrong.
Alterna is a very easy install compared to ceramic tile.
You don’t need a wet saw or a special backer board.
All you need is trowel, float, utility knife, some spacers,
a bucket, sponge and a roller.
Spread your adhesive,
let it dry to touch so it doesn't transfer to your finger,
you are ready to install your tile.
Alterna can be grouted or installed without Grout,
by tight fitting the tiles next to each other.
For a grouted install, lay your first tile,
install a spacer, then lay your next tile.
Alterna can be walked on immediately
so you can install a whole room at one time.
Our grout is an acrylic grout,
which resist stains and there is no special sealers needed.
It will dry completely in 24 hours.
Unlike ceramic, which can take up the 3 days,
you can install Alterna in 1 day
so you don’t have to wait to walk on your new floor.

Seems good so far
This is a very new floor so I am not sure about the long run, but it seems to have good long term potential. I would not recommend self install unless your a moderate to expert DIY. I watched the guy install this and it wasn't easy. I had him grout the tile in and it looks beautiful, but the over lapped grout doesn't seem to want to come off the tile that easily. I'm hoping a few good washings will fix that. Installed in Kitchen, half-bath and hallway. Like it best in the hall and in the half bath. Installed over old laminate, and the floor is a little soft in the spots where the old kitchen wall was knocked out. I hope that isn't a long term problem for the stability of the grout. It probably would be best to rip out the old floor and install over a new sub-floor. I like armstrong products so I'm hoping this turns out to be a good choice.

Great appearance and coloration
We recently had this LaPlata Taupe/Grey 16" tile professionally installed in our laundry room. It looks as good if not better than the porcelain tile we installed in the bathroom as part of the renovation/addition. I like the fact that it is quiter under foot but still looks like stone. We left our room walls white and the bit of white in this tile just pops. We grouted it with seashell. My installer was impressed with the product. However, because it is a new installation, I truly can't comment yet on the effort it will take to keep clean. I'm counting on it to be a quality product especially since it cost more than some of the procelain or ceramic products that are on the market. I have high expectations.

Glad I went with this product over others
I brought home countless samples of many different brands of luxury tiles over a month long period before deciding on this Armstrong product. I considered another brand first but when I dropped a tile in the showroom and the corner broke off, I knew I needed to look further. The Armstrong Alterna line was a bit more expensive than I wanted to go with but I felt it was a superior product that would stand the test of time. I opted for installation w/o grout since I have a rather busy countertop, the subtle tones and accents in the La Plata Carmel are a wonderful balance. So far....so good.

This floor looked great in the beginning, but it is hard to clean and keep clean.
I was excited about this floor in the beginning and even put it in the laundry room and bathroom as well as the kitchen.
Now, I find this floor very hard to keep clean. Previously, I had just wet mopped it using Armstrong Once and Done, but that didn't do the job. Now, I have just finished spending nearly two hours on hands and knees with a scrub brush and Armstrong Once and Done in just the kitchen! (including two rinses.) That is more time and effort in one day than my old sheet vinyl floor required in six months! And, that 25 year old sheet vinyl stayed looking cleaner between cleanings than this new floor does. Maybe, a tile with a smoother finish or installing without grout would be better. It seems that this tile and grout attract dirt and food particles and then hang on to them. It's disappointing and depressing.

I LOVE THIS FLOOR!
This is THE best flooring we've ever had. We had an old wood laminate floor which showed stains, was loud (two dogs' nails clicking!), and was starting to lift in some spots. I am absolutely thrilled with my new Alterna floor. It is very quiet, and even looks great in between cleanings. We had it grouted, and guests to our home think it is ceramic tile. My brother-in-law was so impressed, he and his wife are going to purchase an Alterna floor, as well. The only thing I can't comment on is installation, because we had it professionally installed. I am sooo glad my salesperson recommended this product!

Alterna LaPlata Carmel looks beautiful and is easy to maintain
We purchased the Alterna floor because of a friend's recommendation. What a good friend he is! The floor has exceeded our expectations. The tiles were installed with grout in our kitchen over an old sheet vinyl floor. It has been very easy to maintain. We use a brushless vacuum regularly. In addition, we mop once a week with Armstrong Once 'n Done No-Rinse Floor Cleaner Concentrate. The floor cleans easily, and the result is streak-free. We are extremely happy with our purchase. In fact, several of our friends have mistaken our floor for real tile. Thanks, Armstrong!
