Luxury Vinyl Floor Care Products

Caring for a vinyl tile floor is simple. Regular sweeping and occasional mopping using Armstrong Once 'n Done Floor Cleaner will keep your tile looking beautiful. It's important to follow the cleaning instructions: mopping with too much water can soak the tile and loosen the adhesive; abrasive cleaners can harm the tile's surface; waxing will damage vinyl tile's wear layer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by So very disappointed. This flooring is beautiful. You would never know it wasn't stone unless you were standing on it in your bare feet. ...or you dropped something with an edge on it - which you are more than likely to do in a kitchen or pretty much anywhere you would install this type of flooring. If you gouge it, and it doesn't take much, it's brilliant white immediately below the first layer so you have few options to hide that. As for installation, we had professional installers employed (not contracted) from a well-known flooring chain. It must be difficult to install. There is one tile pattern that is so significantly different from the others, that it should be used sporadically. Unfortunately the installers messed that up so badly they had to come back to redo a lot of it. Even more unfortunately, because of that, now all we have left are those oddball tiles, which we can't use to replace the gouged ones because then we'd have a run of them on the floor which is neither random nor good looking, and the reason we had to have the installers back in the first place. I expected much better from a "luxury" vinyl product. February 17, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great choice! We decided on this Moselle Valley tile with the mushroom grout because it looks so much like real slate. I never wanted to go with a vinyl floor again after having a sheet vinyl floor for 15 years, but this product changed my mind almost instantly. I was so impressed with the look, and am so glad that we made this great choice! Everyone who sees our new floor is also very impressed with the look and cannot believe that it is vinyl. We are very proud of our choice and we just love our warm, comfortable floor. December 28, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Absolutely gorgeous floor The floor is absolutely gorgeous. The floor was installed in my kitchen and breakfast room. The variation from tile to tile gives the floor a very realistic appearance. I chose to grout the floor using the recommended color grout which makes the floor appear even more realistic. I highly recommend this product for its beauty and realistic appearance. November 9, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Reflective colors appear brown or moss or platinum My installation of 450 sq ft of Alterna Reserve Moselle Valley Forest Green Copper has recently been completed. It was a process that began with having to resolve many selection issues. I knew I wanted stone look flooring. The areas for tiling included an entrance hall, portion of a carpeted hallway connecting the LR, BR, and Kit, Kitchen, and Family room. The entrance walls are brown/beige, LR and Hall carpeting is med beige/mauve with wall colors to be determined, the kitchen cabinets while dark brown have a red/burgundy tone, the L shaped kitchen/family rooms have green/rust African pattern wallpaper, and the FR couch is of a native burgundy, green, navy and tan print. Over months, on the web and in the stores, I reviewed the high end tiles of most all manufactures. Mostly, I encountered quality, installation, and warranty concerns and boring tiles. On samples, I dropped heavy and sharp kitchen items, shoved furniture across, and wheeled chairs over. Alterna showed no distress from my tortures and I was happy to find Forest Green Copper color and patterns worked in all areas. Not wanting notable grout lines, liking a natural look, and reading favorable comments on the European effect of grout-less, I wanted grout-less. However, of concern to me was the future accumulation of debris in the crevices. I compromised by having 1/8” grout. My artist niece, using Alterna’s color chart, recommended the Mushroom grout, and advised, for my environment, Cocoa had too much red and Shale is too dark in dim light. The applied Mushroom is lighter and greyer than on the chart, but blends very well. If I'd known the applied result, I may have selected Cocoa or Shale. As it is with Mushroom, the grout-lines are clean and not notable, do not distract from the glamor of the tiles. I continued web research for layout, looking at designer and home for sale pictures. The installation instructions state to begin installation after locating the center of the room. I saw many unattractive installations as the visual line of site created by starting in the center conflicted with the focal point(s) in the room. Tiling into 4 different areas, which area was to be used for centered? Conversely, I saw that in designer photos, the layout flowed to a focal point. I decided to not condemn the layout to the center of the room instruction. I was most comfortable with a diagonal layout, and began layout testing by placing the tile to flow to the center of the front door in the entrance way… the door is not in the center of the wall. Next, I adjusted the positioning of the lay to the front door to place attractively within the hallway. Then, I gave consideration to the flow line to the kitchen window. Lastly, I adjusted the placement of the 1st tile to work attractively with all these areas while presenting an attractive right turn walkway into the kitchen. One more focal point remained ~ the FR patio door. However, having met all the above challenges, I decided to not take on another and simply leave the visual flow to the patio door as it may fallout ~ meeting 4 out of 5 focal points was acceptable. I received 3 quotes and hired an independent installer having more than 20 years’ flooring experience and knowledgeable about Armstrong flooring. He agreed to work with my focal point plan, and found there to be no conflicts regarding the size of tiles at the walls. Ultimately, the layout is fantastic. And amazingly, it also captured the patio door as a focal point. As a matter of fact, there is no area, no doorway, cabinet, or appliance, that does not attractively present the tile. Perhaps the diagonal placement has much to do with the favorable outcome and certainly the 16” size of the tile made it possible to achieve in my home. Finding transition molding to protect and complement the tiles was the final challenge. I unsuccessfully shopped the web including you-tube and Armstrong and other flooring sites, and the stores of flooring installers, including big brands Century Tile and Home Depot. My resolution was found at Menards ~ they carry Framerica, and the Venice Twilight provides a perfect match for both the Forest Green Copper and my carpet. I love the reflectiveness of today’s colors, how they change with lighting conditions. My Forest Green Copper is tan/brown in daytime lighting, green (perhaps moss) in the evening, and sometimes platinum when viewed while sitting in evening light. Forest Green Copper contains 4 different tile patterns, two of which I have difficulty telling apart… I find them similar to Alterna’s Mesa Stone Chocolate and Canyon Shadow. The other two, I don’t find elsewhere in the Alterna line ~ one is as brown leather, and the other is as a speckled tan leather ~ this being simply my interpretation. What is certain, is that all 5 of my visitors have given their highest complements to the flooring. Those not knowing it was Alterna, asked about the stone. My adult son said my investment in shopping, layout planning, and cost were well worth the effort. I expect that even with the best installer, grouting leaves a haze. I also encountered several sites of misplaced grout and black marks. I’ve not yet determined if the black marks are from adhesive, garden dirt, or marks from the soles of my Birkenstocks. I’ve chipped off what I could and scrubbed what remained with a non-scratch pad and full strength Armstrong Once n Done. Using Rubbermaid’s Professional Microfiber Spray Mop purchased at Home Depot, I’ve clean the floor twice using extra strength Once n Done . The installation haze and miscellaneous marks are gone and replaced by a beautiful sheen. Some may question how a tile constructed with a limestone base can be warm or comfortable. I suggest when shopping in a tile store, to touch the ceramic, stone and Alterna. You’ll instantly notice the difference in temperature. While you're at it, compare the look of stone to Alterna ~ I couldn't tell the difference. However, a stone is likely available in different sizes, enabling a greater variety in layout. My ranch home is on a concrete slab, the tile I replaced was the builder’s installed in ’69 and it still looked good. However, for comfort, I needed to wear Birkenstocks while walking on it. Now, having Alterna, and it is summer, hot and humid, but I am surprised that the floor is warm and soft so that I now am comfortable walking on my floor barefoot. September 4, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by Eye candy that's also great on the feet I've only had it five days, but so far I absolutely love it. My Alterna tile replaces thirty year old sheet vinyl, and the difference is indescribable! Kudos to the people that invented this product. I e-mailed photos to friends and family who could barely believe that it isn't stone, porcelain, or ceramic. I also had it grouted which makes it look all-the-more realistic. I've already tested it's durability--I accidentally dropped a new range hood on my new floor, and the steel corner of this heavy object left not a trace of damage to the Alterna. I didn't comment on the ease of installation, as I had professionals install it. In addition, the product brochure says to wait five days to clean it, so I have yet to do so. I expect to get many years of enjoyment out of my new floor, in fact I like it so much, that I've decided to extend it from the hallway and kitchen into the dining room. Highly recommended!
