ARMSTRONG EMPOWERS DESIGNERS, ARCHITECTS TO UTILIZE THE CEILING’S CANVAS

LANCASTER, Pa. (April 11, 2008) — Armstrong Building Products, the category leader in residential design, is committed to helping designers and architects realize the design possibilities of the ceiling – or “fifth wall.”

Helping transform the ceiling’s canvas are this year’s featured Armstrong products, including WoodHaven™ laminate wood planks; Tin Look™ tiles, which are mineral fiberboard tiles that can be painted to replicate the look of pressed metal ceilings; Metallaire™ decorative metal ceilings; and Definitions™ Decorative Interior Accents, which help designers and architects to explore new design possibilities through the use of vertical space and natural infusions of patterns and color.


WoodHaven Laminate Ceiling Planks
WoodHaven laminate ceiling planks create the warm, rich look of real wood at a more affordable price. The new finishes featured at KBIS include: Bamboo, Weathered, Rich Cherry and Cherry Spice. These finishes will be available to consumers starting May 5, 2008. Woodhaven is also available in Classic White, Painted White, Beadboard, White Wash, Rustic Pine, Knotty Pine, Natural Maple, Clear Maple, Walnut, Light Ash, Natural Cherry, Classic Maple and New Apple finishes.

In addition, Painted White and Beadboard finishes can be used for wainscoting and backsplash applications. WoodHaven planks are also made from 45 percent recycled material – perfect for green building enthusiasts. Retailing for approximately $2.99 per square foot, WoodHaven can be found at Lowe’s, Home Depot and other independent retailers.

Tin Look
Armstrong offers eight distinct patterns of Tin Look, such as Circles and Raised Panel™, which replicate the look of stamped-metal ceilings. Homeowners can either install the 12'' x 12'' mineral fiberboard tiles in their original state, paint or faux finish to replicate the look of real tin, bronze or silver. Tin Look tiles are also made from at least 18 percent recycled material – perfect for any green-building enthusiast. Retailing for approximately $2.00 per square foot, Tin Look can be found at Lowe’s, Home Depot and other independent retailers.

Metallaire
The Metallaire product line brings turn-of-the-century pressed metal ceilings to market at a more affordable cost than real tin. Made of steel, the line offers 12 different patterns and five finishes including paintable white, chrome, steel, brass and copper. Metal panels can also serve as a kitchen backsplash in a stainless steel finish. Retailing from $3.50 to $9 per square foot, Metallaire is available exclusively for purchase by special order at Lowe’s.

Definitions
Definitions Decorative Interior Accents add vertical impact to residential spaces while bridging traditional and contemporary design. The 2' x 6' panels hang from the ceiling by a simple cable system and come in 14 different finishes — from dramatic and saturated tones to patterns and natural textures. The panels retail for $550 to $698 and can be ordered directly from Armstrong.
