Ceiling Plank Installation

Armstrong makes two types of tongue and groove planks: Woodhaven® and HomeStyle®. Find the installation options for each below.

Tongue and groove ceiling planks should be attached to joists or drywall using furring strips, clips and screws. WoodHaven ceilings can also be installed over a 15/16” grid system.

WOODHAVEN INSTALLATION OPTIONS

WoodHaven tongue and groove ceilings create a professional custom look that you can do yourself without needing messy adhesive or special tools.

Use clips and screws included in the package
Attach planks directly to existing joists or over drywall or plaster ceilings using the clips and screws included in every plank carton.

Easy Up Track and Clips

  1. Use clips and screws included in the package
    Installation clips and screws are included in the plank package and install directly to furring strips (sold separately.)
  2. Easy Up tracks and clips
    1. Install Easy Up tracks
    2. Attach the Easy Up clips
    3. Position plank; slide and secure
  3. Wood look drop ceiling - Clip into existing 15/16" suspended grid
    1. Remove existing ceiling
    2. Snap on Easy Up clips (sold separately)
    3. Position planks; slide and secure clips

HOMESTYLE INSTALLATION

HOMESTYLE INSTALLATION

This mineral fiber, tongue and groove ceiling is installed with the Easy Up® Guaranteed Installation System, which includes metal tracks and snap-on clips. Installation Steps

  1. Attach metal tracks to ceiling joists.
  2. Snap on clips.
  3. Position planks and slide in clips to secure.
