LANCASTER, Pa. (October 17, 2011) — Armstrong introduces the next generation of Sahara direct-apply residential ceiling tiles – the latest addition to its HomeStyle Ceilings collection. Sahara, one of Armstrong’s best-selling finishes, is now available in a 16” x 16” tile profile that can be applied directly to dated drywall, plaster or popcorn ceilings anywhere in your home. The larger, trendier size provides homeowners with a better overall visual and is 50 percent faster to install than traditional 12” x 12” direct-apply ceiling tiles*.
“Sahara’s expanded profile was designed to give homeowners the best of both worlds,” said Lori Rowley, Associate Marketing Manager – Residential Ceilings. “A beautiful, fine-textured tile to visually expand any room in your home and one that’s also fast and easy to install – it’s the perfect fall fix-up project.”
As the one and only 16” x 16” direct-apply ceiling tile on the market, Sahara provides homeowners with a unique opportunity to cut installation time by more than 50 percent. Tiles can be installed directly to a drywall, plaster or popcorn ceiling by one of two methods: wood furring strips or ceiling tile adhesive. Homeowners looking to level an uneven ceiling are encouraged to use wood furring strips of either 1” x 3” or 1” x 4” in size. For those with smooth, even drywall or plaster ceilings, adhesive is recommended.
And, while consumers are saving installation time, they’ll also be saving the planet. Sahara ceiling tiles are made from 33 percent recycled content, perfect for green enthusiasts and another way Armstrong is fulfilling its commitment to corporate environmental sustainability. These eco-friendly tiles have a 10-year warranty and are available in a universal white color that can also be painted with latex paint for additional customization.
StyleStix’s global white color was chosen to perfectly coordinate with existing standard white ceiling tile but StyleStix can also be painted with latex paint for additional customization. Retailing for approximately $1.00 per linear foot, StyleStix enables homeowners to achieve a sophisticated, low maintenance look at a price that’s 1/3rd the cost of creating a deep visual with custom coffer work.
Retailing for approximately $1.65 to $1.85 per square foot, Sahara is available exclusively at select Lowe’s stores in the Southeastern United States, nationally at independent retailers and dealers, and by special order through Lowes.com.
