Armstrong Enhances Energy Saving Ceiling Solutions for Improved Sustainability, Occupant Well-Being, and Ease of Retrofitting
Armstrong CALLA TEMPLOK and ULTIMA TEMPLOK ceiling panels are now PVC-free and continue to support up to 15% energy savings and up to 50% in tax savings.

LANCASTER, Pa. — Armstrong World Industries has updated its TEMPLOK Energy Saving Ceilings solutions to support higher levels of Sustainability as well as occupant comfort and well-being. Armstrong CALLA TEMPLOK and ULTIMA TEMPLOK ceiling panels now have a metalized film backer, making them free of PVC and Red List chemicals. They also carry Class A 25/50 fire performance now with UL certification for use in return air plenum, and they are part of the Armstrong SUSTAIN portfolio, meeting the most stringent industry sustainability compliance standards today. In addition, the mineral fiber ceiling panels come in two sizes, 24" x 48" (new) and 24" x 24". This allows them to be easily installed using a standard 9/16" or 15/16" grid system and provides an attractive solution for retrofits.

These improvements are integrated with the innovative use of Phase Change Material (PCM) technology that makes TEMPLOK a one-of-a-kind ceiling solution that can reduce a facility’s energy costs and consumption by as much as 15% and provide up to 50 BTUs/SF of passive cooling.* Projects using the energy saving ceiling panels may also qualify for up to 50% in federal tax credits.

Improved thermal comfort and additional benefits 
The integration of PCM with TEMPLOK mineral fiber ceiling panels allows passive heating and cooling to help regulate temperature, improve thermal comfort, and reduce demand on HVAC systems. In addition to making a space more sustainable and resilient, the ceiling panels support higher Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) as part of the Armstrong TOTAL ACOUSTICS product portfolio, offering enhanced sound-blocking and sound-absorption performance. CALLA TEMPLOK and ULTIMA TEMPLOK fit into the thermal comfort portion of the WELL Building Standard™ and can contribute to LEED v5 credits. The ceiling panels are also made in the U.S.A. of domestic and global content, and they are Build America, Buy America Act compliant.

In June 2025, Armstrong and Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) launched TEMPLOK Energy Saving Ceilings into IES Virtual Environment (IESVE) software, a suite of integrated analysis tools supporting architects, consultants, and engineers in optimizing building performance. The integration of TEMPLOK verified energy savings into this energy-modeling software offers users a streamlined, easy-to-use method of simulating the effect of the PCM ceilings within their whole-building IESVE model.
