Foundation Success Story: Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic

Several years ago, the AWI Foundation formed a relationship with the Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic. Upon discovering the clinic’s capital campaign, the AWI Foundation made a donation to fund the renovation of the facility, transforming it into a comforting and functional space. Since then, the AWI Foundation has continued to provide financial support to maintain this high-quality facility for the members of our local community.

Cultivating Philanthropy at AWI Plants

In addition to annual United Way contributions in all of our plant communities, the AWI Foundation allocates philanthropic dollars to each of our plants, giving them the ability to support local causes they believe in.

In 2022, employees at AWI plants in Hilliard, Johnstown and Newark, Ohio; Marshfield, Missouri; Millwood, West Virginia and Pensacola, Florida received funding from the AWI Foundation that empowered them to support charitable organizations with direct impact on their local communties, including food banks, community gardens and community support for low income and homeless families.

Manna Food Pantry
Pensacola, FL

Manna is a grassroots organization fighting hunger in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties in Florida. They provide groceries directly to individuals and families in need, free of charge.

Mobile Makers
Chicago, IL

Mobile Makers creates programming that encourages youth to become advocates and change-makers in their own communities through design-focused skill-building workshops.

Sidewalk Project
Los Angeles, CA

Through various mediums, including art, music and public health, the Sidewalk Project aims to be socially active and to empower houseless communities around the world.

Community Impact Across the United States

Building Better Grants are one of AWI's most significant contributions to community causes. Together, the company and the foundation have contributed monetary and in-kind donations to countless organizations across the country. We provide these grants to 501(c)(3) organizations located within the communities where we operate, supporting their efforts to create services and spaces that help people live better, healthier lives.

Help Us Support Your Cause

The AWI Foundation is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of people where they live, work, learn and play. The Foundation awards Better Building Grants to 501(c)(3) organizations that meet at least two of the following criteria:

Operate in communities where AWI employees live and work

Commit to elevating the importance of design and buildings in people’s lives
