LANCASTER, Pa. — Armstrong World Industries, Inc. (AWI) and the Armstrong World Industries Foundation (AWI Foundation) have joined hands with Lancaster Public Library to help create a cutting-edge building at Ewell Plaza in Lancaster City which will serve as a hub for community enrichment. In addition to a Building Better Grant of $100,000 from the AWI Foundation, the library also received product donations from AWI that serve to enhance the experience of all who enter this exciting new space. As a company headquartered in Lancaster, AWI’s collaboration with the library involves sharing its knowledge of design, innovation, and production of exceptional ceiling and wall systems with the local community. This initiative will enhance the library's infrastructure and create a new space for education, community involvement and innovation.

Salena Coachman, VP, Talent Sustainability, Diversity & Inclusion at AWI and President of the AWI Foundation, expressed her enthusiasm for this project, which aligns with the Foundation’s vision of a world where individuals can thrive in safe and productive environments.

“We are excited to contribute to the new home of Lancaster Public Library because of its important role in our community. Beyond books, this is a place people come to learn, build community, access technology and receive many other services. It serves all generations and all walks of life, and we knew we could contribute to making the space more functional and beautiful,” said Coachman.

The Lancaster Public Library will host a Ribbon Cutting Celebration on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. that is open to the public. The event will provide attendees with the opportunity to tour the library's new space, featuring various AWI products. The ACOUSTIBUILT Cloud above the staircase, TECTUM wall panels in meeting rooms, along with ACOUSTIBUILT ceilings in the children’s center, are some of the noteworthy products used in the new building. These innovative products are designed to reduce noise levels, making the library an ideal collaborative space for visitors to read, learn and study in a calm and peaceful environment.

The AWI Foundation has been a longstanding supporter of educational and community programs in Lancaster, and its partnership with the Lancaster Public Library is part of its dedication to creating sustainable spaces where people can live, work, learn, heal and play.
