Turf Expands Ceiling Cloud Portfolio with Two New Products

(March 26, 2026 - Chicago, IL) –  Turf, a global leader in acoustic solutions operating at the intersection of art, architecture, and technology, has launched two ceiling cloud systems: Plate and Platter. Born out of market demand, Turf’s updated Plate design represents a refinement of customer-driven solutions focused on polygonal shapes, while the new Platter cloud offers unparalleled freedom in shape and form with its organic, curvy structure.

“Plate and Platter are a direct result of our work with specifiers, designers, and other industry partners,” said Robert MacMeccan, President, Turf. “After years of collaborating on custom projects and pushing the boundaries of our original Plate product, we’ve upgraded the collection and added Platter to help designers create visually and aurally appealing cloud solutions, much easier and faster than ever before.”

PLATE
Plate provides a seamless, streamlined aesthetic while showcasing Turf’s evolving material mastery. The ceiling cloud is now offered with enhanced engineering, creating a rigid panel completely out of felt without the need for external hardware.  Plate is available with two distinct edge types: Knife Edge and Chamfer Edge. With the Knife Edge, Plate can also accommodate angled installs, up to 45º, creating a dynamic ‘peak and valley’ visual effect. The new engineering solution, supported by Turf’s parametric design process, provides specifiers with yet another strong tool to bring their ideas to life.

Plate is offered in various standard polygonal shapes – rectangles, hexagons, triangles, trapezoids, and more – that can be specified to coordinate with one another as a singular cloud. With a noise reduction coefficient (NRC) of 1.05, Plate’s sound-absorbing properties paired with its visual aesthetics make Plate a practical yet intricate system suitable for any commercial space.

PLATTER
Platter redefines the traditional acoustic solution. Offered in a variety of rounded shapes and depths, the acoustic solution can be configured to add dimensions and soft, organic forms to any space as desired.

Easily configurable, Platter offers an aesthetic with intersecting and overlapping panel options, and the ability to connect shapes for dynamic acoustics and visual complexity. Platter maintains a continuous aesthetic for a clean and creative finish without the need for external stiffener hardware. The top side of each Platter panel includes a matrix of indentations that add structural strength. Its flat vertical edge is available in 2”-6”  depth options, adding impactful volume to any space. As a folded panel, Platter’s NRC ranges from 1.15-1.30 (depending on depth and spacing), one of the highest of Turf’s acoustic solutions, truly allowing designers to design visually striking spaces without compromising the cloud’s acoustic ability.

While each solution is offered with standard shapes and panels available as idea starters, both are fully customizable. Plate and Platter are made with 9mm felt, 60% pre-consumer recycled PET felt, and can be specified in any of Turf’s 9mm colors, Grains, and Textures. Each cloud system can be installed using a cable-to-deck connection and can be configured to work around existing mechanical infrastructure.
